Vishal Bhutani is the Chief Investment Officer and sole portfolio manager at Saltoro Capital and founded the firm in 2012. Prior to Saltoro, Mr. Bhutani established the event driven strategy at Structured Portfolio Management and was a PM on the SPM Opportunity Fund. Prior to joining SPM, Mr. Bhutani was a Portfolio Manager for Alexandra Investment Management, where he managed the global event driven credit and equity portfolios. In 2006, Mr. Bhutani opened an office in India and hired a team of analysts to build an investing platform across Asia. Prior to becoming a Portfolio Manager, he held the position of Head of Research at the firm. Mr. Bhutani has over 19 years’ experience as a hedge fund investor and has sat on various creditor committees during corporate restructurings. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bhutani was a Distressed Security Analyst at Magten Asset Management where he focused on researching distressed credits across different geographies. Mr. Bhutani started his career as a Corporate Finance and Strategy Associate with McKinsey & Company. He earned his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business, and Master’s of Finance degree from the University of Delhi and is a CFA Charterholder.

Alex Gutierrez is the Chief Financial Officer for Saltoro having joined the firm in January of 2018. Prior to joining Saltoro, Mr. Gutierrez was a Director at Crestline Investors Inc. where his responsibilities included coordination of audits and acting as a liaison with different vendors while managing and overseeing the NAV preparation for 70+ funds and 50+ SPVs with a combined AUM of approximately $10 billion. Prior to Crestline, Mr. Gutierrez worked at Deloitte for 14 years where he was a Senior Audit Manager in Deloitte’s asset management practice. Mr. Gutierrez graduated with a B.A. in accounting from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico, and he holds a CPA license in Texas and New Hampshire.
